Hawkesbury Journey

360 degree spherical video, 2006

Early application of global video recording technology (360 degree spherical) from a egocentric viewpoint and in  motion. The camera replaces a passenger sitting in a little runabout motorboat riding around Dangar Island on the Hawkesbury River in NSW Australia.

The film is mapped in polar coordinates and adapted for the interactive hemispherical immersive projection system iDome (UNSW iCinema Centre).

Spatial soundtrack recorded by Nik Marriett with a custom 4-channel microphone.
